What is Low Cost Home Ownership?
Low Cost Home Ownership is the term used to describe government subsidised housing in the private, owner-occupied sector which is available to people who cannot afford to purchase properties generally available on the open market.
The number of affordable housing options available to those looking to buy a home have increased, as the Government have introduced new measures to help first time buyers.
Some of the new initiatives that have been introduced recently are a result of the current difficulties being experienced by those who do not have large deposits. The variety of products available can be confusing, but they are designed to offer as many options as possible to cater for purchaser's individual needs.
These are the range of government assisted schemes currently available:
- Newbuild HomeBuy
- Open Market HomeBuy
- Social HomeBuy
- Resales
- First Time Buyers Initiative
- HomeBuy Direct
- Intermediate Rent
- Mortgage Rescue
