Low Cost Home Ownership

How long will it be before I am offered a property?

It is not possible to say if and when you will be offered a property as this will depend on a number of factors, mainly availability. In the case of Newbuild Homebuy it will depend on new developments being built in the area you wish to live. For Re-sales it will depend on a current shared owner wishing to sell their share of a property, again in the area you wish to live. If properties are available in your requested areas other factors will also be taken into account such as your ability to afford the price of the share that is being offered for sale and also afford the rent on the remaining share of the property. The housing association or developer that is offering the share will carry out a financial check in order to assess your affordability. Priority will be given to social tenants, key public sector workers and those registered with a local authority as having a need for social housing, above other first time buyers.

When a housing association or developer has low cost home ownership properties available they will get a list of qualifying applicants from the Home2own register who match the criteria needed for a particular scheme or property.

The final decision on who will be offered the opportunity to purchase a specific property will be made by the housing association who is offering the property for sale.
